Akatakyie USA, Inc. is an organization open to all persons who have attended Opoku Ware School and also to all friends of the School, teaching and non-teaching staff, who are residents of the United States of America.
The aims of Akatakyie USA, Inc. are to:
- Promote the wellbeing of our Alma Mater;
- Promote the wellbeing of all Akatakyie through effective networking and dialogue;
- Provide a harmonious environment for friendships to flourish among all Akatakyie of different generations;
- Foster unity and understanding among Akatakyie in operating on behalf of our Alma Mater; and
- Provide a forum for discussing issues pertaining to the welfare of our Alma Mater.
The Akatakyie USA, Inc. website will provide updates on Akatakyie activities, events, and sponsored projects as well as happenings in the school.

Opoku Ware School
About OWASS
Opoku Ware School, often referred to as OWASS, is a senior high school for boys in the Ashanti region of Ghana. It was established in 1952, as one of the five Catholic schools in Ghana that year. The school was named after Asante King Opoku Ware I. The students are known collectively as Akatakyie, an Asante word meaning “conquering heroes”.
Patron Saint
The patron saint of the school is Saint Thomas Aquinas. The motto of the school is “Deus Lux Scientiae”, meaning “God is the Light of Knowledge”.
Location
The school is located in Fankyenebra, near Santasi, along the Kumasi-Obuasi road.

Endowment Fund
The Opoku Ware School (OWASS) Endowment Fund will finance critical projects to promote academic excellence at the School. The Endowment Fund is managed by a Board of Directors in accordance with the “Governing Articles” put in place by Akatakyie USA.
